Massage Therapy in Albuquerque

Policies

At A Step Above Massage, we strive to provide exceptional care by offering transparent massage appointment policies and expectations that support a seamless and professional experience for all our clients.

Scheduling, Cancellation, and Rescheduling

A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total appointment cost is required at the time of booking. This deposit secures your spot and will be applied to your service. If you reschedule with at least 48 hours’ notice, your deposit will transfer to your new appointment. However, rescheduling with less than 48 hours’ notice will result in forfeiture of the deposit, and a new deposit will be required to book another session.

We understand that life happens, and sometimes plans change. Should you need to cancel or reschedule, we kindly ask for at least 48 hours’ notice via text (505-449-7554), phone call, or email (reception@astepabovemassage.com). Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice will result in forfeiture of your deposit.

If we must cancel your appointment within 24 hours of its scheduled time, we will make every effort to rebook you within the next two weeks and honor a $20 discount on your service.

While we do our best to send reminders by phone, text, or email, please consider these a courtesy. Ultimately, it is your responsibility to remember your appointment time.

Thank you for understanding and helping us maintain a smooth and reliable schedule for all our clients.

Late Arrival

Unanticipated events occur in everyone’s life. We ask that you text if you are running late or know you will be late. All treatment sessions have a specific time schedule therefore we regret that late arrivals may not receive extension of scheduled appointments. In special cases, and when our schedule will allow, we may be able to accommodate a partial or full appointment. This will be at our discretion and only with proper, advanced notification of your late arrival.

Payment Terms & Conditions

Payment is due when services are rendered. Cash, checks (made out to “A Step Above Massage”), and credit/debit cards are accepted. NSF transactions will result in an additional $30 fee and may incur legal action.

Zero Tolerance of Inappropriate Behavior

The therapist has the right to be free from offensive behavior. Massage therapy is not a sexual service. No inappropriate comments or conduct will be tolerated. Any indication of such behavior will automatically end the session.

Sanitation Procedures and Product Disclosure

An ingredients list of products used will be provided upon written request. If disposable gloves are required, they are made of nitrile. The therapist utilizes sanitary procedures which include clean linens, treatment room sanitization, UV tool sanitization, UV air humidifier/purifier, hand sanitizer, and hand/feet washing before and after the massage.

Massage Scope, Side Effects and Expectations

The therapist will likely ask the client to disrobe to their comfort level, and they will be draped at all times. The therapist may apply deep pressure or use other techniques on tender or restricted areas. The most common side effects associated with massage are bruising and delayed onset muscle soreness. Massage therapists do not diagnose, prescribe, or perform surgery. If services are needed beyond the massage therapy scope of practice, a referral will be made to the appropriate provider. The client is expected to inform the practitioner if pressure is uncomfortable and ask for techniques to be discontinued.

Client-Practitioner Partnership

As a client, you are an active participant in your healthcare journey. We encourage open communication and self-care to achieve the best outcomes. If at any time you feel your well-being is compromised, please notify your practitioner immediately.

Our practitioners are committed to providing safe, effective, and evidence-based treatments, utilizing their skills and knowledge to support your health and wellness.

Personal Data

We are committed to protecting your privacy and maintaining HIPAA-compliant software to securely manage your personal data. By receiving services, you authorize the release of medical records and related healthcare information—including intake forms, chart notes, reports, correspondence, and billing statements—to attorneys, healthcare providers, or insurance case managers, but only when required by law, for public protection, or (with your consent) for correspondence between our practitioners and others in your health/wellness care team.

Copies of records may be subject to a processing fee. Your information will be securely stored for at least four years after services are discontinued, after which it will be permanently deleted or shredded.

Informed Consent & Health Disclosure Policy

By receiving services at A Step Above Massage, you voluntarily agree to participate in massage therapy and similar methods for the purposes of health, wellness, or achieving therapeutic goals. Massage therapy is your choice, and while it offers numerous benefits, there is no guarantee of success or effectiveness for individual techniques or sessions.

You confirm that the information provided during your intake is accurate and agree to inform your therapist of any health changes. Failure to update your therapist about health changes releases A Step Above Massage and its practitioners from any liability.

You acknowledge the benefits and potential risks of massage therapy and consent to receive these services.
